Simple Vanilla Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 cups whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  1. Put freezer bowl in freezer for a minimum of 24 hours.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together milk, sugar and salt until sugar is dissolved. Stir in heavy cream and vanilla. Cover and refrigerate 1 to 2 hours or overnight.
  3. Put pre-frozen ice cream bowl on ice cream maker. Insert paddle and outside cover. Turn on the ice cream maker and pour the cream mixture into the freezer bowl and let mix for 15 to 20 minutes. The ice-cream will have a soft creamy texture. If a firmer ice cream is required, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and place in the freezer for a few hours. Remove ice-cream from freezer about 15 minutes before serving.
